River Rock Spiral: 30 Days of Creativity: Day 21

River Rock Spiral

The rocks tossed around by swelling rivers remind us:
There is a central thread connecting us all.

Train Photographs: 30 Days of Creativity: Day 19

Train Photos

My love for trains, rusty metal and graffiti continues to grow.
I've been taking pictures of trains since I first got a camera.
When I have time, I will take these photos and use them to create pastel drawings.

Photographs on a Rainy Day: 30 Days of Creativity: Day 17

Rainy Day Photos

It doesn't happen often here.  We usually get 300 days of sun.  The ones that are not sunny...well, they're snowy.  Not rainy.

The rain can make me look at the world through a veil.
So I took these photos through the screens and curtains and window panes.

30 Days of Creativity: Day 10: Ten On Ten

It's the tenth of the month, so we're at Ten on Ten folks!

On the tenth of each month, take one photo an hour for ten hours.
See the wonder and beauty of the little moments.

Oh summer, you feel so good.  Thank you for the time to squirt water guns, climb stop signs, draw, read, sew, cook and watch the flowers bloom.
Happy Tenth!

Chalk photography: 30 Days of Creativity: Day 3

30 Days of Creativity: Day 3
Chalk drawings with Aiden, Solomon, and Clara.

I spent all day with four little ones, (age 1 1/2, 2, 3, and 4) so I knew our creation would need to be a collaboration.    This is what we did.

Aiden helped me draw the bike and road.
I love how Clara looks like she's riding in the wind.
I'm not sure how Solomon rides with those rainboots on, but he seems to manage.

Ten on Ten May

Ten on Ten
May 2011

take one photo an hour for ten hours - capture a snapshot of the ordinary beauty of a simple day in your life!

Ok, I was teaching today and chose not to interrupt my teaching with photographs.   So, these ten photos are not spaced evenly throughout my day.  Fifth, sixth, seventh, and eighth graders saw me with my camera and posed for me.  Consecutive grades, not hours.

Today's photographs made me realize that Spring is balancing on the precipice of Summer.  The sky is blue, the children are giddy, the dandelions are blooming and all the colors are bright.
Hooray!

Happy May Tenth!
Cheers to you all!

Ten on Ten February

Here is my day documented in photography.

This is the Ten on Ten Project.
Take a photo every hour for ten consecutive hours on the tenth of each month. Document a day of your life and find beauty among the ordinary moments.

This month, inspired by the Beauty Collective on Ten on Ten, I decided to take two photos for each hour. Then I put the two together.  Two perspectives, one square.

Waking.  Walking.

Trains.

Downtown.

Brittle sunflower.

Airstream--Artstream (parked at our school filled with clay wheels).

Sophia.

Swings.

Rear view mirror.

Buddah.

Seed germinations.

I continue to love this ten on ten project.
My days feel fuller, and the moments captured seem to grow larger and fill  my consciousness.
These moments do not document what I "did" but rather what I chose to notice during the day.

Blessings to all of you on this tenth of the month.
